Yardlong bean ‘Thua Fak Yao’ in Thai, is a legume that is widely grown in Southeast Asia. The green pods are the edible part similar to green beans.

The pods are widely used in Thai cuisine and are eaten both raw and cooked. They are used in many salads including the famous ‘Som Tum‘, as an accompaniment for ‘Nam Prik’ relishes and many other spicy dishes as a side cooling vegetable. The beans are also used in curries as well as in stir-fries.
