Known commonly as the king of fruits in Thailand, the durian is one exceptional fruit, standing out for its large size, thorn covered rind, pungent odor, one of a kind flavor and unique texture.

With durian it’s easy, you either adore or absolutely hate it. I personally love it, the sweet flavor and creamy texture are a real treat. I do understand however why many people are repelled by its smell and the subtle notes of onion in the flavor, some say rotten onion. If you haven’t tried it, you should give it a go, be open minded and remember that it’s only a fruit.

Durian is highly prized and priced.. it is eaten fresh and often used in desserts like durian and sticky rice and durian ice cream.
